This
is where you can find the working steam locomotives in St.Petersburg,
including the legendary working 9P-19489 shunter. The depot is situated
in the middle of a freight sorting depot. You can view the sorting
operation from the road bridge. The depot is easy to get to. Go to
Lomonsovkaya metro station on the green line. Come out the station exit
doors and bear left across the small park south and then down
Babushkina Ulitsa / Street. Get the traffic lights and turn right down
Ivanovskaya Ulitsa / Street heading west. You will soon see the large
road bridge. Keep walking. You will see a large lake in a park on your
right. Go up the bridge ramp and when you get to the middle of the
bridge you will find a gap in the bridge parapet on either side and two
spiral concrete staircases. Go down the staircase and walk north to the
gate. The depot is easy to find the large brick red painted water tower
and the chimney are recognizable landmarks.
A full list of the locomotives normally based at the depot is as follows:

Other
items of interest at the depot were a railway crane numbered “4”, and
two Russian Soviet industrial diesel shunters: TGM23B-535 and
TGM23B-1811. The TGM23B was manufactured from 1973 to 1985.
Finally, you can also find a series of yellow painted concrete
monuments / plinths with locomotives depicted on them. One is of an SO
and another of an Ov locomotive.
