P36-0120 formerly at Belorusski Voxhall / Railway Station

Harvey Smith was based in and around Moscow off and on from 1997 to 2014 and has now moved to St. Petersburg. Apart from this report he has also posted information on other attractions in Moscow and the rest of Russia, there are links at the bottom of the page.

For some reason the Metro is called Belorusskaya and the railway station Belrusski. It is on the brown circle line. The locomotive is easy to find. It sits outside the round house. Avoid the electrishka/ suburban train platforms. Walk to the end of one of the long distance railway platforms. It is at the end of platform 5 but any of the long distance platforms will do. You will see the locomotive on your right. There are designated paths across the tracks to it. Harvey reported (24th July 2013) that it was being restored to working order and hence this picture is of historical interest only.

You can read about the recovery of the loco here http://www.marklin-users.net/forum/yaf_postst26115_New-life-of-the-famous-steamer.aspx#post393506 and more detail is here http://ru-railway.livejournal.com/1930601.html?thread=30407273&, This is Dmitry Kolesnikov's pictures of the locomotive after recovery and again at Podmoskovnaya after initial movement for restoration in March 2013..

By 3rd August 2014 restoration had been completed and it was on show at the celebrations for 180 years of Russian railways at Sherbinks.
