Thomas Kautzor in Mexico, 2012 |
|
Thomas spent November 12th to 22nd 2012 in Mexico. The main aim of the trip was to see Mexico’s only
serviceable steam loco, NdeM 279, in operation, but due to local politics the advertised trip was cancelled at the last minute.
He spent the days prior and after that touring the central part of the country as far north as Aguascalientes and as far south as Matias Romero, OAX, taking in the states of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Puebla and Veracruz, in addition to the federal district.
His initial source on the extant steam locomotives was http://www.steamlocomotive.com/lists/?country=MEX
although as always the data is less than complete and up to date.
He has sent his reports in by subject which are necessarily spread over this site. This page acts as an index to the trip. See also the F.C. Militar de Quintana Roo, Mexico 2016 Many of the pictures necessarily were taken in the National Railway Museum at Puebla:
