Like the other mills in the area, Lestari progressively abandoned its field lines from the late 1970s. Initially from about 1978, it used a transfer yard some way south of the mill but very soon abandoned that and by 1981 all cane was then delivered to the mill area. Steam use collapsed and eventually finished although some locomotives were transferred to Gempolkerep where two saw further use. |
