The large mill at Jatiroto was totally renovated in the late 1970s and what was already marginal steam activity was almost eliminated by the arrival of new Japanese diesels in the 1980s. The large steam fleet must have been a wonder to behold in the 'good old days', like Semboro it had a large complex field line system with plenty of double track operation. Jan Willem van Dorp's pictures of Jatiroto in 1983/4 were a welcome addition in April 2022. |
