An extensive series of secondary lines of 2ft 6in gauge evolved to be a single organisation, the Egypt Delta Light Railways. This unidentified shed location shows typical motive power, with their No. 95, an 0-6-4T built by NBL in 1905 taking water, and the background, some of their Sentinel 0-4-0 geared locomotives built in the 1920s. The photograph is probably 1930s-40s, and the system shut down in the 1950s; killed off by road transport. (CW1 Collection) |
