One of the distinctive Trevethick 4-4-0s for the Egypt State Railways at Zarguziq station in 1920 during the heyday of British colonial railway operation and looking very clean and shiny. The obsolescent double frames are reminiscent of nineteenth-century practice, but they were a new design in 1900 and to further confuse the stereotype, this locomotive No. 331 was built by Henschel in 1906. It must have looked strikingly different to their contemporary output for the Prussians! (CW1 Collection) |
