A Glimpse of Real Steam at Ambarawa

I am not sure when the last 'real' train ran at Ambarawa. It would certainly have been to Kedungjati as the rack line was out of use in the early 1970s.

There was no service when I first visited in 1975, although we did have a special train both to Tuntang and Bedono, they must have been among the first ever but they were definitely not the first ones. John Tillman was here in 1973 and this is what he saw:
