Passenger Services on Surviving Narrow Gauge Railways of Russia

Alex Malianov has sent the following information. If you are not familiar with the surviving Russian narrow gauge railways, might like to consult the list of them he assembled a few years ago. Mark Torkington sampled some of these services in September 2019 and he has sent me a few pictures which are at the bottom of the train times. Now added Pischalskoye Peat Railway, Kirov Oblast (23rd March 2019)

This is the current (November 2016) passenger train schedules of 750mm gauge railways in Russia. Information is taken from http://www.rusbestrailways.ru and https://rasp.yandex.ru. There is a minor update below for resumed normal services on the Alapaevsk system (17th March 2017).

In addition, there are several narrow gauge railways with trains for transporting workers to logging areas and peat fields.

Children's railways are not considered here.

Alapaevsk narrow gauge railway, Sverdlovsk oblast:

Alex advises (16th March 2017) that normal services have been resumed after bridge repairs:

Alapaevsk-2 - Sankino: 19.30 (Mon, Thu, Fri, Sun) - 01.00 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat);
Sankino - Alapaevsk-2: 01.10 - 06.44 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat);
Sankino - Kalach: 20.00 - 22.00 (Thu, Fri, Sun), 01.05 - 03.25 (Mon, Fri, Sat);
Kalach - Sankino: 22.35 (Thu, Fri, Sun) - 00.55 (Mon, Fri, Sat), 03.30 - 05.50 (Mon, Fri, Sat);
Yel`nichnaya - Strokinka - Ugol`naya - Sinyachikha: 06.06 - 06.27 / 06.32 - 07.40 / 07.50 - 08.33 (Wed), 14.07 - 14.28 / 14.33 - 15.43 / 15.53 - 16.36 (Sun);
Sinyachikha - Ugol`naya - Strokinka - Yel`nichnaya: 12.07 - 12.50 / 13.00 - 14.06 / 14.09 - 14.30 (Wed), 14.07 - 14.50 / 15.00 - 16.09 / 16.14 - 16.35 (Fri);

Apsheronsk narrow gauge railway, Krasnodar krai:

Chernigovskaya - Kushinka - Otdalyonny (Shpalorez): 07.00 (weekdays), 19.00 (daily);

Otdalyonny (Shpalorez) - Kushinka - Chernigovskaya: 04.00 (daily), 15.30 (weekdays).

Avniugskaya narrow gauge railway, Arkhangelsk oblast:

Avniuga - Poperechka (Soyga): 06.00 - 07.30, 16.00 - 17.30;

Poperechka (Soyga) - Avniuga: 07.30 - 09.00, 17.30 - 19.00.

All trains run only on Mondays and Fridays.

Kudemskaya narrow gauge railway, Arkhangelsk oblast:

Vodogon - Beloye Ozero: 16.00 - 17.30 (Sat), 17.00 - 18.30 (Mon, Wed, Fri), 18.30 - 20.00 (Sun);

Beloye Ozero - Vodogon: 08.00 - 09.30 (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat), 16.30 - 18.00 (Sun).

Lipakovskaya narrow gauge railway, Arkhangelsk oblast:

Lipakovo - Seza: 10.00 - 11.40, 18.00 - 19.40;

Seza - Lipakovo: 6.40 - 8.20, 15.00 - 16.40.

All trains run only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Karinskaya narrow gauge railway, Kirov oblast:

Karintorf (Tekhnicheskaya station) - Kirovo-Chepetsk (Novy station): 06.45 - 07.25, 09.40 - 10.20, 13.20 - 14.00, 16.40 - 17.20, 19.30 - 20.10.

Kirovo-Chepetsk (Novy station) - Karintorf (Tekhnicheskaya station): 08.15 - 08.54, 10.25 - 11.04, 14.05 - 14.44, 17.25 - 18.04, 20.15 - 20.54;

Oparinskaya narrow gauge railway, Kirov oblast:

Oparino - Chursya: ~ 5.00, ~ 17.00. 

Chursya - Oparino: ~ 7.00, ~ 19.00.

The train runs on Mondays once in two weeks, and may be canceled. Information as of May 2016.

Pischalskoye Peat Railway, Kirov oblast: (added 23rd March 2019)

This was not included in the original list and Mark has provided a photograph of the timetable. He says that it's "thought that not all trains have passenger accommodation". Click here to view the timetable.

Mark Torkington made to some of these lines in September 2019 and he has sent me a selection of pictures. He adds:

"If anyone is looking at visiting the Kirovo Chepetsk - Karintorf narrow gauge contact the owner (an English speaking crank) his email is euster at list.ru - he wants me to spread the word for him as the line is subsidised by the local council for running costs, but his long term aim is to attract tourists and preserve the NG heritage."

The twice a week service from Yel'nichnaya to Sinyachikha arrives at Ugolnaya behind Tu4 1800. 15th September 2019

Tu8 0010 and train awaits departure time at Alapayevsk 2 station. 14th September 2019

Narrow gauge sleeper service.... Tu7A 3367 pauses at Yel'nichnaya with the overnight train to Sankino. 15th September 2019

Tu4 3076 with the afternoon workers train awaits departure from station number 2. 17th September 2019

Tu7A 3322 leaves Boyovo station in the town of Kirovo Chepetsk with a service to Karintorf. 18th September 2019
