Slow Train to Kalaw, 2009
Part 2, Mid Morning

Ever onward and upward, the line twists and turns through the forest:

And if there's no station near where you live, drop off your goods and jump down to join them:

At Lebyin, age is no barrier to helping the family earn some much needed money:

An old engineers' hand crane is stored here, it hasn't been used for a while:

Train operation now gets very interesting as there are 2 zig-zags (double reverses) on this section, this is the first of them:

In both cases there is a long wait before proceeding, it's time for some imported refreshment and an early lunch, having watched the noodles being served we avoid them.:

This is the 'terminus' at Kwheyok:

The lever frame is elevated, like the other it's from MacKenzie, Holland of Worcester, UK. The water crane is disconnected...

Here the train heads out backwards up the hill:
