Indeed this was the view from the hotel bedroom, taken on a morning in May 1975 when not only was steam activity decreasing rapidly, but the sun had failed to show. Given Haadyai's unenviable reputation as 'Sin City of the South' I doubt many residents appreciated this view. (RD)
