Pangka Sugar Mill |

Quite early in the period covered by this survey the mill decided it could do without almost all its field lines although one to the east survived until quite late but saw little traffic. At this point the connecting line to Jatibarang will have closed too. All cane was hauled some 500 metres along the east side of the mill before reversing into it in a quite photogenic operation. The mill had only 'heritage' diesels which meant that steam lasted into the second decade of the 21st century. It seems that milling took place in 2019, but I believe since then it has been 'suspended', variously because repairs are needed and / or there is insufficient cane available. Click here for a video of the actual mill in operation. |
