The 1980 list shows about 500 narrow gauge steam locomotives including 4 active on the Cape gauge (1067mm, 3ft 6in). Some had already finished their working lives but the vast majority were recorded at work and are shown here. Inevitably there are gaps because permanent withdrawals were an annual occurrence right from the early days. This page lists those for which I have no photograph. In some cases, I know they exist but, for various reasons, they are not accessible to me. Some, like Semboro 16 and 20 may long have been history. You will note that many are accounted for by near identical locomotives at Jatiroto most of which were already out of use by the late 1970s. They appear below in the same order as in the 1980 list. The Krebet locomotives were stored unphotographable in the shed as late as 1986, but were later scrapped. Those indicated by "@" have a photograph in Bergmann's 'Dampflokomotiven der Indonesischen Werkbahnen'. Offers of suitable photographs should be made to the email address at the bottom of the page.
