Safari Steam North

This shows 2, one of the original H.K. Porter 0-4-4T, with bell and cowcatcher outside the House of Wonders on the seafront. The locomotive has a steam and sand domes - one of the former survives in the Zanzibar Museum. This picture comes from a book by an American woman traveller, ca 1907/8. (KP collection)
