Safari Steam North

Photographed at Tripoli in 1945 at the end of the Second World War, this Italian designed 0-8-0T was then in the British War Department stock as their WD 70633. Built by Schwartzkopff of Berlin in 1908, it had started life in Sicily, before transfer to the Italian controlled Libyan railways. Both systems were of their usual 95cm narrow gauge. (CW1 Collection)
