Elimination of the 29 and 31 class was to be brought about by the 62 class Bo-Bo from Henschel, delivered from 1979 onwards. On 12th July 1979, 6217 was a new arrival at Kisumu and was working the Butere branch train at Lela. 20 years later railway staff described them to me as a 'disaster'. (RD)
