The Oil Palm Railways of North Sumatra

Gunung Bayu DB 0-6-0 12 heads for the mill through a rubber estate on 30th July 1987. Both oil palm and rubber require a similar climate and are found intermingled. The only rubber estate in the area to still use a railway was near Kisaran but it had long been dieselised. (RD)
