As we see in other similar pumps elsewhere, the 'keyhole' system may be necessary where a flywheel is added to the engine. The Hallesche compressor seen previously avoided this by displacing the cranks sideways. I assume this more complex system provides better balance. A machine for the same purpose is shown at Wringinanom, but this has a single eccentric on the same side as the flywheel and internal valves for the pumping cylinder. (RD) |
