In fact, the 4-6-0s tend to be less suitable for industrial use than 2-8-0s as they usually (but not always) have larger driving wheels and inevitably have less weight for adhesion than a 2-8-0 of similar size. In recent years, many have been taken out of use. 1534 at Juan Ávila Mill, though, is making good progress on 26th February 1985. Like many locomotives of this wheel arrangement, 1534 previously worked on the main line in Cuba. (NT) |
