John Raby and Michael Reilly.
Locomotives are 2ft 6in (762mm) gauge unless indicated otherwise.
3 March 2026. Lu Dajun Apartments, Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, 3/3/26
Plinthed in the courtyard of this secure apartment complex is 2ft gauge 0-6-0T A1 (Taiwan Iron Works 11 of 1942), ex Sanxia coal mine.
4 March 2026. National Railway Museum, Taipei
Ex Taiwan Sugar Corporation Taiwan Machine Co 0-6-0T 376 (built 1958) is on display.
5 March 2026. Taiwan Railway Corporation, Changua Roundhouse
CK124 2-6-2T Nippon Sharyo 1936. 3ft 6in gauge preserved in working order.
5 March 2026. Taiwan Sugar Corporation, Xihu sugar mill
Anglo Franco Belge 0-6-0T 346 (2654 of 1948) operated on a chartered freight. On display in the old loco shed: Nippon Sharyo 0-6-0T 326 (1940), Tubize 0-6-0T 364 (1948), and Amemiya 0-6-0T 604 (1920).
6 March 2026. Taiwan Sugar Corporation, Huwei sugar mill
Displayed outside the main entrance to the mill were Nippon Sharyo 0-6-0T 329 (1937) and 3ft 6in gauge Fukagawa 0-6-0T 11 (1927). Nippon Sharyo 0-6-0T 332 (1937) was also displayed nearby, in the sugar
mill's rail yard. Displayed within the mill complex was 322, an 0-6-0DM rebuilt at Huwei from a Nippon Sharyo 0-6-0T (1923).
7 March 2026. Taiwan Sugar Corporation, Suantou sugar mill
On display are Nippon Sharyo 0-6-0T 331 (1935), Tubize 0-6-0T 368 (2346 of 1948), and Orenstein & Koppel 0-6-2T+T 650 (11708 of 1928).
7 March 2026. Taiwan Sugar Corporation, Wushulin sugar mill
Tubize 0-6-0T 370 (2354 of 1948) ran a charter train to Xinndingpi.
8 to 10 March 2026. Alishan Forest Railway.
The main depot and workshops are at Beimen, a short distance north-west of the joint station at Chiayi, which is 45 miles by rail from Alishan, a major tourist centre in the mountains where there is a second depot. At Fenqihu, the midpoint station, there is an indoor museum.

Two locomotives are displayed in the open in this park, about 150 yards from Ershui Station.

13 March 2026. Jiji Station, Nantou County
On covered display outside the station is ex-Alishan Forest Railway Shay 22.
13 March 2026. Jiji Tourist Railway
Equipment from a defunct 2ft 6in gauge tourist railway was noted 150 yards east of Jiji Station. The oil-fired 2-6-0 locomotive, numbered 2, is said to have been built in China by Changzhou Yangtze in 2012, but a close examination gave rise to suspicion that the basis of it could have been a pre-existing 0-6-0.
14 March 2026. Taiwan Sugar Corporation, Xinying sugar mill
Taiwan Machine Company 0-6-0T 382 (1958) was on display at the sugar mill station.
15 March 2026. Hualien Railway Culture Park
Hualien was once the centre of the Taiwan Railways 2ft 6in gauge system on the east coast. The railway park is on the site of the former local railway headquarters, about 1½ miles south of the new station. On open display is a large 2ft 6in gauge locomotive.

2ft 6in gauge Tubize 0-6-0T 366 (2344 of 1948) is on display.
16 March 2026. Chinan National Forest Recreation Area
This beautiful reserve has under covered display Alishan Forest Railway Shay 16 and Luodong Forest Railway 5, an 0-6-0T from Nippon Sharyo.
16 March 2026. Kuang Long Museum, Kangle Village, Taitung County
On display outside a convenience store near the museum gate is ex Taiwan Railway loco LCK31 Orenstein & Koppel 0-6-0T 5805 of 1912
17 March 2026. Luodong Forestry Culture Park
This was the forest railway terminus and the site of a log storage pond. A museum has been developed in the old locomotive shed and a number of locomotives, some with disputed provenance, are on display around the grounds.
