The Siclau Association was then established with the support of the local authorities and senior managers of the Brasov Forestry Company (Brafor) to preserve the Covasna - Comandau line and its historic incline, initially as a tourist operation (22nd April 2002). 764.405 was steamed and the first trains ran in August 2002. Read Hans Hufnagel's illustrated report (9th November 2002). There were celebrations for the official reopening of the line in October 2003. Click here for some pictures of the event (11th November 2003). On 26th May 2004, the first group of tourists, guided by an Austrian tourism firm "MIKES REISEN", travelled for the first time since 1999 with steam on the whole length of the line, passing over the Hanko bridge which was rebuilt by SICLAU association. It was a total success and one can only hope for more and more such business (added 3rd June 2004). Contact Serban Lacriteanu Email: Serban.Lacriteanu@cfr.ro if you want up to date information at any time. The association urgently needs donations of money for continuing projects.
