Preserved Steam on Negros, March 2026

What promises to be the most extraordinary 'real steam' story of 2026must be then revival at Hawaiian-Philippine, hinted at by the news that at least one of their locomotives had received an overhaul, but the implication was that it would only be used occasionally  Kevin Hoggett was in the country at the suggestion of his 'his son's in-laws and tacked on a visit to Negros. Details of his visit are on a separate age

He writes:

We also hired a car and visited several plinthed locos:

Insular Lumber Mallet 0-6-6-0 7 at Sagay City is probably the single best known steam loco on the island as it featured prominently in Colin Garratt's Iron Dinosaurs book: It was outside City Hall in 1998 and by the look of the pictures it is still there.

0-6-0T 105 ex La Carlota mill is on San Enrique Road, La Carlota.

An 0-6-0ST ex La Carlota mill is in Panard Park, Bacalod.

0-6-0PT 7 ex Bacolod Mercia Nilling Company (BMMC) is at MacDonalds on Circumference Road, Bacalod

Finally there are two ex-Insular Lumber Shays (9 and 10) at Lopez mill.
