The Trinidad Tourist Train, Cuba, 2011

Mark Enderby writes:

Steam operation daily 09.30 returning 14.45 for 10 CUC, stopping off at Manaca Iznaga for 30 minutes, turning on a wye a few km beyond Guachinango and stopping at the latter for approx 90 minutes for lunch. Cab rides available for a small tip. Stops on both legs are made for water on a viaduct between Trinidad and Manaca Iznaga. On return to Trinidad, train turns on a wye by the depot before refuelling the loco. The local service to Mayer (using an ex-Russian railbus) appears to still run but the lack of passing opportunities means the steam takes precedence over some of these.

The service ran for the 4 days I was there but had not run for a few days before I arrived as the loco was broken.
