Preserved Steam in Brazil

More news from Hose Beraldo, this time on a former locomotive of ESTRADA DE FERRO ARARAQUARA (EFA)

Nr. 9 seen here in steam in June 1992, the first day of operation after the restoration project carried out in Araraquara. The picture was taken in the platform of the Araraquara station, which was the terminus for the EFA. As this section is now broad gauge (1600mm), a small lenght of metre gauge track was laid to allow nr. 9 to make a short ride, only for carrying visitors, which take place aboard a flatbed car, equipped with wooden seats.

Ready to run

Here is how this Borsig 4-8-0 looked in 1988, standing silent as a display in front of the former Araraquara Rlw. main offices in Araraquara (SP). Due to the efforts of some members of the ABPF, the brazilian rlw preservation society, this engine was put back to working condition as you can see above.

Silent monument
