Preserved Steam in Brazil

We hear very little about preserved steam outside Europe and North America. This is the latest release from ABPF's preservation activities in Campinas (SP). A "new" engine is now in storage at Carlos Gomes, being transferred from its static display of the former Villares factory in Araraquara, which ceased operations. The engine is Baldwin 2-6-2, builder nr. 39486, built 1913, formerly used by a sugar mill in the city of Piracicaba. The pictures show the engine in its former static display on August 1987 and, in Carlos Gomes April 11, 1998, waiting to be restored to working condition.
