A Baldwin Centenarian in Brazil

"Here is Companhia Paulista nr. 604, Baldwin 4-6-0 blt. 1895, which is now undergoing restoration by ABPF. The loco was trucked to Sorocaba where the work is being carried out, and some pressure tests have already been made successfully. This is surprising, considering that this loco remained stored on open tracks for many years. It is expected to have it under steam by July 1999, when nr. 604 will be put again on VFCJ's tracks and will become the oldest loco in service. The photo was taken by Eduardo Beraldo on November 1994, when nr. 604 was still sidetracked at Anhumas station of VFCJ.
