The International Steam Pages

Acknowledgements

When regular steam finished in Malaysia and Thailand in the mid-1970s, few visitors had recorded steam at work there and even fewer photographed steam in Indochina at that time. Some steam on Negros lasted longer, but by the 1990s most had long gone and virtually no-one was lucky enough to have colour photographs of Fiji. Consequently, it has not been easy to gather pictures for this project. Hence some of the pictures used in this CD-ROM were taken in less than ideal conditions. Often they represent a unique record of an era which has passed and your understanding of this is essential to your enjoyment.

I would like to thank all those other photographers whose work is featured on this CD:

Special thanks go to Basil Roberts (BR), who patiently allowed me to go through his entire collection taken while resident in Bangkok from 1971 to 1974. Without his co-operation it would have been impossible to compile this CD-ROM. John Raby in Japan was of great help in preparing the Taiwan section.

The following contributors are also gratefully acknowledged:

Bill Alborough (BA), John Alexander (JA), Hugh Ballantyne (HB), Keith Chester (KC), Derek Cross (DC), Olaf Güttler (OG), Johs Damsgard Hansen (JH), Robert Hepburn (RH), Peter Hodge (PH), Hans Hufnagel (HH), Heinrich Hubbert (HH2), Rob Kingsford-Smith (RK), Nobutaka Kurashige (NK), Nick Lera (NL), Colin Martindale (CM), Peter Mosse (PM), Peter Nettleship (PN), Nicholas Pertwee (NP), Richard Pelham (RP), Bernd Seiler (BS), Ian Searle (IS), Florian Schmidt (FS), Dave Sherron (DS), John Tillman (JT), Geoff Todd (GT), Chris Walker (CW).
