The use of conventional locomotives on the railway barely lasted into the 1970s. 9B class 4-8-0 90 at Bulawayo in August 1968 was almost the last active member of its breed. At this time some of the original RR 4-8-0s survived sold out of service elsewhere in Southern Africa. (BR)
