There can never have been any question of the railway going any further west. The Ruwenzori mountains presented an impenetrable barrier to communication with Zaire beyond. It was appropriate that the railway dubbed 'The Lunatic Line' by its critics should ultimately end below the 'Mountains of the Moon'. (JW)
