3-56 was a standard British War Department ('WD') 0-6-0ST built by Vulcan Foundry (5292/1945) and this and a sister locomotive proved to be the last serviceable steam locomotives in Tunisia. The metre gauge saw MacArthur 2-8-2s like many other countries in Asia and Africa. (JW)
