Safari Steam South

Inspired no doubt by a former Rhodesian 7th class bought in 1907, the railways 'D' class 4-8-0 were sound locomotives variously built by Hawthorn Leslie and North British. Early member of the class 8 was in steam at Limbe as late as August 1968. Originally wood burners, coal became standard fuel from 1925. (BR)
