The first steam locomotives in the then Nyasaland were two small 0-4-0ST of the 'A' class. Perhaps reflecting the nationality of many of the early railway builders, 1 was named 'Thistle' and was still in active service at Limbe near Blantyre in August 1968. (BR) |
