In the last 10 years, passenger traffic on the railway had collapsed. With the accession of Idi Amin in Uganda, the only passenger train to the border at Malabar (and no further) was restricted to once a week on Sundays. This was the only way to view the Rift Valley escarpment by train and was a regular duty 87 duty. It is seen just after leaving Nairobi on a March 1980 morning. (RD) |
