The train has now reached its initial destination, Maktau, where it was to stable overnight. The Taita Hills behind contrast with the rich red soil of the area in the foreground. We camped in a tent in the station yard - despite the alleged likely visit of lions from Tsavo West National Park to drink from the water columns here. (RD)
