By the end of 1979, the twice weekly Voi to Taveta mixed train was officially dieselised. However, on 5th January 1980, no diesel was available and with regular substitute 6013 away up the main line, 3113 'Bamba' was called on and is seen near Maktau. With lightweight power it became effectively a pure passenger train. (RD)
