The first 4-8-2s in Ghana dated from 1924 and the same design was perpetuated in two later orders in 1938 and 1949, the latter on the grounds of expediency for faster delivery compared to a modified version. 138 (Vulcan Foundry 5842/1949) was at Accra on 2nd December 1967. (JW)
