Safari Steam North

A feature of the section between Ghinda and Asmara are a number of viaducts and tunnels, necessary as the line rises gradually from the coast to Ghinda (3258ft) before rising steeply to the summit at 7303ft. This was a downhill train with a Mallet on 8th March 1967. (JW)
