This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the overall index for 2023. Paul Gilbey writes: "I had an enjoyable day at the Bill Kemball's Power of the Past Collection at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk on Saturday which resulted in 10 new engines. The light in the buildings was not brilliant for photography being a mixture of artificial and natural sources either through glass or large open doors. Three portables were in steam. The actual collection is very large and consists mainly of tractors but also has cars, trucks, combines, military vehicles and some horse carts but everything is well set out in a number of buildings. The Robey TE was an interesting engine in terms of design. Another very rare beast was the petrol powered cable ploughing engine made by Fowler, one of only two known to still exist. I have also included a photo of a Marshall dockside steam raiser which was used to provide steam to steam ships when in port. I was told that they were quite common once but I am unsure how many survive now. The large Ruston and Hornsby steam crane was an impressive sight and was much larger than the Erie machine from Statfold Barn seen at Welland in 2016." General Engines
