Elvaston Steam Rally 2022
Working Steam

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the Elvaston 2022 index and click here for the overall index for 2022.

Elvaston again had a working area where 'the usual suspects' were entertaining a constant stream of passing visitors. It was scarcely laid out with the photographer in mind (at least until the sun came round well into the afternoon) but the exhibits were well positioned for the visitors! I fully expect to see the same trio doing their stuff at Rempstone next week too.

Saw Bench 1

Ruston Proctor 33189/1907 was working at the south end of the working area:

Saw Bench 2

Ruston and Hornsby 115100/1922 was working at the north end of the working area:

Thresher

Foster 14410/1914 was turning over a thresher at the north end of the working area.

Steam Gallopers

A Savage centre engine was powering the gallopers, Fowler 15653/1920 was providing the electricity for the lighting on the gallopers.

Living Van

The Howard family private carriage was on display. I am sure it a museum piece now, it was a fraction of the size of the rather more modern equivalents on show nearby.
