Birdingbury Country Show, (8th - 9th, July 2017) |

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the overall index for 2017. We stumbled on the final Birdingbury Country Show serendipitously through a late posting on the Traction Talk Forum. We were on our way back from a Nottinghamshire weekend double of the Rempstone Steam Rally and the Papplewick Pumping Station and being just of off the Fosse Way in mid-Warwickshire it was almost exactly half way home. It was always a small village event and when the prime mover Bob Munro sadly died at the end of 2016, it was felt that his boots were too big to fill. Interestingly, although none of the engines was new, only the Allchin had been seen frequently before.
