Banbury Steam Rally, (25th - 26th June, 2016)

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Bloxham is now no more than a medium sized event and arguably the steam engines are no longer the prime attraction. Compared to our first visit in 2014 there were fewer present and not a single showman's engine which is what ordinary punters traditionally drool over. Despite appearances from the pictures, the weather was mediocre, it didn't rain very much admittedly but neither did the sun stick around for long while we were there between 10.00 and 16.00 on the Saturday. Possibly the forecast scared away many people as attendance seemed quite thin. A real bonus for us was that the journeys to and fro take in some great Cotswold scenery but nevertheless I suspect it will be two or three years before we go back.
