Cornish Steam and Country Fair 2015
Working Steam

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the Cornish Steam and Country Fair 2015 index and click here for the overall index for 2015.

The event had a strong working area, for me it was 'Portable Paradise' with no less than 4 small portables at work. I would have liked much more time in this area but by the time the sun came round (and out) work was almost finished for the day.

Portables on Saw Benches

There were three portables at work sawing, Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies (15650 and 19439) and Ruston Proctor 52591. In one case it was providing heat for breakfast. The saw in the final set is by A. Ransome & Co. Ltd, Newark & London.  Check them out here http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/A._Ransome_and_Co.

Steam Milling

Floether portable 8785 was working a small milling machine:

Stone Crushing

Burrell 2662 was working a Goodwin stone crusher:

Saw Benches

Burrell 3919 was working a saw bench, I didn't have time to cover this properly.

Steam Threshing

Marshall 76751 was working a Ransomes threshing machine, again I only recorded this in passing.
