This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to
illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK.
Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily
found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a
handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair
which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click
here for the Torbay 2015 index and click here for
the overall index for 2015.
Torbay had a working area which would put many a larger
rally to shame, it's the best of any rally of this size we have seen.

Steam Ploughing
Two ploughing engines were using a Fowler cultivator. I
did well here in 2014, so it was no disaster that I missed them working.
Fowlers 1368/1970 "Margaret" and diesel
conversion
15199/1918 were at work.
Stone Crushing
Burrell 4014/1925 was working a Buxter stone crusher:
Saw Benches
Ruston Proctor portable 52691/1919 was working a
Ransomes Puckles wood saw of 1927:
Wallis and Steevens 8052/1930 "East Lothian Star" was working a saw
bench of 1912 by Alfred Blake of Diptford, Devon.
Marshall 73901/1920 "Princess Mary" was working
an other saw bench, marked for Mortimore & Son, Morleigh, South Devon.
Steam Threshing
Burrell 3816/1919 "Cornish
Maid" was working a Foster threshing machine, assisted by Robey
portable 37958/1918 on a Refold baler
Burrell
2662/1904 "Attraction" was again just ticking over on a
Ransomes threshing machine.
Steam Crane
Steam Crane Burrell 3166/1909 "Joe Chamberlain"
was on hand to assist around the working area (see also the other picture at
the top of this page):
