Wiston Steam Rally 2015
Working Engines

This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for the Wiston index and click here for the overall 2015 index.

The organisers clearly go the 'extra mile' compared to most rallies. Owing to 'circumstances' the threshing and sawing was better for stills than video. The two Burrell showman's engines arrived with Harris Old Tyme Amusements (Link broken by September 2025) travelling kit from their base at Ashington a few miles away and then presented it at the main parade. Various engines were roped in to offer rides around the show ground in return for donations to the Bloodrunners Service, one of whose bikes can be seen in one picture. Obviously the steam bus, Puffing Billy, took its turn too.
