This is one of a series of pages which I have uploaded to
illustrate facets of steam rallies we have attended in the UK.
Such events occur all over the country in the summer months, they are easily
found by using your favourite search engine and may have anything between a
handful of steam engines and hundreds (as at the Great Dorset Steam Fair
which could probably be fairly described as having an excess of riches). Click here for
the overall index for 2014.
Effectively the steam rally season is over, few brave
organisers will schedule their events for the second half of September.
Kettering is the exception and a need for a car for domestic purposes for
the Friday and Saturday set up a visit on the Sunday. We overslept and
arrived a bit later than I had planned as the best of the sun was forecast
for the morning. And so it proved, but there was just enough available to get
a nice set of the pictures. It's at the small end of the scale but as always
enjoyable and it was pleasing to see several locally based engines which had
previously dodged our attention. There was no 'working steam' on show.
