The International Steam Pages

Torbay Steam Fair (1st - 3rd August, 2014)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2014 introduction and overall index.

Torbay is another medium sized rally which was not originally on our summer list because it coincided with South Cerney. However, with dodgy weather forecasts for our home area, it became an increasing possibility until we finally plumped for a dash down the M5 with rain bucketing down in Gloucestershire. Actually not so much a dash as a crawl because the first Saturday in August is not the best day of the year to head for the West Country. However, we got there just in time for the concluding stages of the grand parade followed by an invitation to inspect - just as well as half the engines would have been almost unphotographable at the resting positions. It was an excellent show and one we look forward to revisiting in the future

There were almost 30 engines and as we were in a new area, there were many we had not seen before. The working areas were particularly strong and I have a lot of video to edit up.

David Collidge's Steam Scenes website (http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/) is a fount of information and was a great help in compiling these pages.
