The International Steam Pages

Stoke Row Steam Rally, (8th - 9th June, 2019)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2019 introduction and overall index.

We had not planned to visit Stoke Row as we had been here in 2018, but having drawn a near blank with the Wiltshire Rally, we quickly adjusted our plans and made our way up the A4, arriving in the middle of the Grand Parade. If the Wiltshire event looks to be in terminal decline then Stoke Row is on the up with the car park pretty full, such gaps as there were being those who had gone home for their Sunday lunch.

There were half a dozen engines we had not seen here the previous year, always a good sign. While there were two saw benches in operation, there was not a lot of movement in the two hours we were there, quite a few engines headed straight for the beer tent after the parade and parked there for the duration. There was quite a bit of sunshine but little of it was of 'blue sky' quality.

David Collidge's Steam Scenes website (http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/) is a fount of information and was a great help in compiling these pages.
