Strumpshaw Steam Rally (2nd - 5th June, 2022)

This is one of a series of pages I have uploaded to illustrate facets of the steam rallies we have attended in the UK. Click here for the 2022 introduction and overall index.

Strumpshaw represents a major expedition for us, it's over 200 miles from home and In 2016 we were very glad to have David Longman's hospitality mid way. It proved to be a very pleasant traditional medium sized rally where the steam engines were the centre of attention. It was excellent value as the price of admission included a visit to their major steam engine museum. You can read my usual report.

This time we were 'cat sitting' with other friends near Diss, less than an hour away and unfortunately the day before our planned visit, our previously totally reliable 4 wheeled 'BB' succumbed to a radiator failure. during a trip to Helmingham Hall Gardens. We limped back to base, activated our 'Breakdown Recovery Insurance' and waited till Monday for the repair, not surprisingly given that it was the Platinum Jubilee weekend. Consequently, these pictures are from Paul Gilbey to whom we are, once again, very grateful. I am sure we'll try again next year, maybe the four engines which I have yet to record will return.
