Stationary Steam in Jamaica, 2014

Thomas Kautzor went to Worthy Park on 9th June 2014. This is what he found, he would like to thank Robert Clarke Co-Managing Director at Worthy Park Estates Ltd. for facilitating the visit.

Harvey vacuum pump 3394/1929 is plinthed at the entrance of the Estate, next to the modern distillery, Its plate has been stolen. The pump cylinder bears a Blair plate and it may be that this was added to an existing horizontal engine as a conversion or to replace the original.

Inside the mill is another vacuum pump, Harvey 2766/1911 which is still operational and operated for visitors from time to time.

After Robert Clarke retires from his present position, he wants to set up a visitor's centre and museum at the mill. For this he has collected some gear, including a duplex pump, what appear to be four vertical steam pumps and some mill machinery. There is half a fly wheel from John McNeil (the other half was stolen by scrap thieves right there in the yard). He also has an ealy-1900s diesel engine (not shown). At the mill, the old waterwheel is still in place.
