The International Steam Pages

Veenpark at Barger-Compascum, Netherlands

Thomas Kautzor has sent the following pictures of preserved steam at the Veenpark (Peat Park) at Barger-Compascum southeast of Emmen (Drenthe), the official website is http://www.veenpark.nl/.

The park also operates two narrow gauge railways which are described on a separate page.

The Richard Garrett, 32736/1915, (http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Garrett) portable is used occasionally in demonstrations on how the peat harvesting machine works, there is a second preserved portable outside. The stationary engines are inside the old peat processing factory.

The second is from the lesser known Th. Flöther Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft (3634/1924).

Large Backer and Rueb engine with drop valves (800HP, 1914):

There are also a number of smaller engines both inside and outside.

Worthington duplex pump and unknown manufacturer's small engine driving an alternator:

This engine was made by Paul Tröster Maschinenfabrik of Hannover ca 1918.(the museum suggests 200HP but it must be less than this).

Outside is another engine in need of restoration, its origin is not given:
